0:00 Hello, my name is Chance Furgat. I am a finance intern on the procurement team here at Mutual of Omaha.
0:07 So there were a lot of factors that helped me decide to intern here at Mutual. Originally, I am from Omaha, NE so growing up I was always familiar with Mutual of Omaha because the company is very active in the community.
0:21 I also had a few friends that have worked for the company and they could speak for the positive impacts that the work environment has made on them.
0:29 Mutual of Omaha also invests a lot of their time into their intern program and they really promoted it as something that I wanted to be a part of.
0:38 Specifically, the finance internship is also a very hands on role. I knew that if I were to accept the position, I would be getting real world experience and a chance to test what I learned in the classroom before entering the workforce.
0:51 So I have been working on a lot during my internship here at Mutual. Like I said, I am on the procurement team, so there is the responsibility of procuring goods and services for the enterprise.
1:04 My main job role is providing support for strategic sourcing managers, which means that I do a lot of miscellaneous work. I spend a lot of time summarizing data, running cost analysis, preparing materials for meetings, and overall just helping make sure that things run smoothly for our stakeholders.
1:23 Often times my tasks were for a Project Beacon, so it was really cool to get an inside scoop on what the future of work would look like here at Mutual.
1:32 I've also spent my whole summer working on a capstone project with two other finance interns. This project is a real issue that Mutual of Omaha is facing regarding the future of the work environment. The project will be presented to the entire finance department and executives at the conclusion of my internship.
1:50 My amazing team would have to be the the best part of my internship and my summer here at Mutual. In Procurement, I take a lot of meetings, so I interact with my team members quite often. They have contributed a lot to my internship experience by coaching me while also making the process really enjoyable.
2:09 Even beyond that, I haven't met someone who wasn't willing to answer my questions or help me out, which I think is something that speaks to the culture and the environment here at Mutual. The people that work here are happy to provide endless resources for my growth and my development. The only limit to my experience was myself.
